WD My Book essential 3GB stopped working after restart

Hello.   I have a WD my book essential that I use for backup and storage.  Never had an issue with it until now.  I just restarted my computer, and now it is not being recognized by my PC.  It isn’t showing up in my computer.  The light is on and the disk is spinning, but it is not registering.  Is there hope for recovering the data?  Can I get it to work again somehow?  Thanks!

Running Windows 7 professional, 12gb ram, Intel core i7 960

Tried everything in the FAQ except change the USB – HD cable, I don’t have an extra one.  The drive was working fine, and when I restarted it just did not show up.

If the drive is warranty contact WD they will p[robably send you a new cable to try. does the drive show in Disk Management? Also make sure you are not connecting through a hub and try a different port.

Well, I just tried a replacement cable, still not working.

Also, I noticed the hard drive does not seem to be spinning, though, the light for the case comes on.
