Wd Elements not detected

Hey,

I was copying files from my WD Elements to my PC when the WD just fell down.I connected it again.I could see the LED blinking. But the hard disk is not detected in My Computer. Also i hear a clicking sound.I could find the WD in the Device Manager.Under Disk Management it is displayed as UNKNOWN DEVICE ,not initialized. The problem is I have 1 tb of data which I value so much.I also happen to have a warranty. Is there any way I could backup the data from the hard disk?

Also would the data recovery centers charge me though the hard disk is under warranty?

Hello, hard drives are really sensitive to physical damage, so it is probable that you need professional help to recover your information. Western Digital doesn’t offer any in-house data recovery services, but you can contact any of the data recovery partners that WD recommends, contact tech support first before sending your hard drive for data recovery so they can create a case for you. Thank you for your reply!Okay I shall first contact the WD customer care and decide on it…I just have a query.I happen to stay in a country that does nt house the data recovery partners that WD recommends! Does this mean that I would still have to ship it to those guys?

You have the option to use any local data recovery company that you would like to use, just be sure to notify tech support first before attempting to recover your data.
