.I just got myself a wd media player not (live), one before that…and also a wd elements 1 tb external drive.
First issue: can’t play mkv files. second: tried to download from wd site new firmware, this will not show up when downloaded. I also think i added packages not needed on hard drive on wd elements. Now i am getting scanning for ages on the player and won’t stop…Could someone tell me are the following packages correct on my external hard drive please.

wdtv.cas
wdtv.cas.md5
edid
ph
ph.db-journal
wdtv
all the above are in the folder, are any wrong to effect my drive. and what is needed to play mkv movie downloads.
under this folder is
wdtvhd which is a zip file
help would be very much greatful
