I just bought a 2TB WD Elements Hard Drive, and I had plugged it in but it hasn’t appeared on my computer. I have a Mac 10.6.7 which is compatible with the hard drive but it is not working, nor is it coming up on in the Disk Utility so I can’t reformat it either. If someone could please help me because I really need it to work!
Verify if the drive is getting power, try on a different power outlet. Restart the Mac and reconnect the drive. It could just be a bad drive.
The Elements comes formatted NTFS for Windows. To use on Mac it will need to be reformatted. If you wish to use on both Mac and Windows just download NTFS-3G http://mac-free.com/download/NTFS-3G.html for the Mac.

The OP stated that the drive is not seen on Disk Utility , it’s not a format issue.
