I was trying to install a brand new never used WD easystore on my Mac to use for Time Machine backup. The first time I went into the time machine app it saw the WD but then it erased all the files on it and now it is invisible. Is there a way to reinstall the original software files on the easy store? And then how do I reformat it to use with the mac? Thanks for any ideas I can try.

You need to reformat WD Easystore drive in MacOS Extended File format in order to use with Mac Time Machine on Mac. You may follow below KBA to reformat drive for MacOS:
