I was given a new 8 TB WD easystore desktop for Xmas. It needed to be reformatted to use on my Mac. I followed the WD procedure for this using Mac’s Disk Utility. The reformat failed, and it will not mount. It now identifies as ‘disk17s2’, file system Mac OS Extended, writable: No, Owners enabled: No, can be verified: Yes, Can be repaired: Yes. I do not know what happened in this case or how to fix it. I have reformatted other PC format hard drives before without a problem and carefully double-checked the procedure beforehand. Any ideas that might help? There does not seem to be a WD online help chat service available.
