I just hooked up my EasyStore tonight. The computer (El Capitan OS) recognizes the drive, but it is read-only. The instructions indicate that I need to format it for MAC by erasing, using DisK Utility. When I try that, it gives the message that “erase process has failed.” What can I do to start using my new drive?

What is the files system you are in selecting in Disk utility to format the drive?
Have you tried disconnecting the drive>> restating your Mac system>> Plug in the drive again and format?
