Can't eject, erase or format my drive

I accidentally bought a WD 4TB My Passport Drive that’s apparently not compatible with my MacBook Pro, High Sierra 10.13.6. I’ve seen the instructions for reformatting the drive and I’ve attempted to reformat it. All to no avail so far. In particular, I get stuck at the part that says click the “eject” button in Disk Utility. Nothing happens when I click it. I’ve tried skipping that step and going straight to “erase” but it fails to mount.

Any advice?
