I just bought a WD My Passport Ultra Metal Edition 3TB drive. I just installed the WD Drive Utilities. My question is - Is the utilities compatible with all WD External hard drives or are they drive specific. In other words, I have a My Book, and two other Passport Ultras which the utilities are compatible but if I place, lets say, a 1tb WD in an external case, which would normally be used as an internal HD, and hook it up, will it work for that as well? Just curious.

I believe it is not going to work. It is my understanding this app will only work with drives that came with WD Smartware included.
