WD Discovery drive not mounting on MacOS Big Sure

On macOS Big Sur, WD Discovery App does not mount the Mycloudhome Drive image on the desktop. I am only able to access the drive via the Web interface.

I have uninstalled the App, updated the App. Still no drive image. In finder, preferences all drives are clicked to be visible?

After installation, a warning indicates that an extension was blocked as it is outdated.

Please Western Digital, you need to do some updates? Or we will be unable to use some key features of your product.

There is a fix for this here, How to Install WD Discovery on macOS 11 Big Sur

Beware as I am still having problems and had to disable the startup in launch agents folder. That seems to maybe stop my Mac from freezing up after accessing the my cloud application.

Hi Ashleecole,

I have tried this update. I have an Intel Mac running Mac OS Big Sur, and an M1 Mac.

The article indicates that M1 Macs are not supported.

WD Discovery on my intel Mac, not mounting the drive in Finder. This is because the required system extension for mounting these types of drives (FUSE based) is disabled.

WD need to update their drivers & developer signatures in their code.

Thanks for the help.

Kind regards,

Dennis

Hi Dennis,

Yes, I have an M1 Mac as well as Intel. My Intel Mac is the one I have been able to get the fix working however with major issues still. My app freezes to the point I have to force restart my computer. I disabled start up for WD and that seemed to help a bit but let’s be real, not really. One of my drives will also “disappear” if I am working for a little while. WD does need to fix this. It’s been months since Big Sur was released, I am baffled that they had nothing in the works to ensure a seamless transition. I now wish I had never upgraded to Big Sur and downgrading isn’t an option for me.

Hoping we can get a resolution soon.
