WD 2TB Ultra passport fails WD Utilities Quick Drive Test but passes Windows test - should I worry?


I have 2 passport drives. The 0748 1TB drive passes the WD Drive Utilities Quick Drive Test but the newer (in warranty) 2TB drive 0820 fails.

I have installed the latest version of the WD Drive Utilities test suite

The firmware of the drive is rev 1012.

The drive passes the standard Windows Error Check diagnostic including the scanning, so is there a problem or not?

This is my total backup drive, so I need to know whether there really is a problem.

Are there any further tests I should try to confirm whether it is a real issue or just a WD software feature?

I am using Windows 8.1 64 bit on a Dell PC bought in January this year.

Try running a diagnostic using WD DLG.

Thank you for theinformation.

I have run the DLG tests.

Quick test passes.

Extended test fails - error 08 Too many bad sectors detected.

Any further tests worth running or do I just contact WD support?
