Video files "not supported"

Using EX2 Ultra with a Toshiba smart TV.

Every video I try to play via DLNA fails, with the TV reporting them as “not supported”. While this sounds like a TV issue, the same TV played back the same files when served from my previous NAS devices (both WD: My Book Live and My Book World).

The files are in a variety of formats (MP4, AVI, MKV). I have tried converting one of them using Handbrake with default output settings, but same result.

The files play back successfully via VLC (also using DLNA), although the playback stutters terribly, pausing every few seconds. Again, this was never the case with the old NAS units, using the same client devices and the same network. These are not HD videos, but very basic quality, so they’re relatively undemanding on bandwidth.

Is the TV just “incompatible” with the MyCloud somehow?

Cheers,
Graham.
