Video files in video folder are reconized as music & only show up in music folder

Greetings,

I have an old 2tb MYBOOKLIVE that has been filled up.
I just got a MyCloud 8tb Personal Cloud Storage.
All of my files play properly on the 2tb MYBOOKLIVE.

PROBLEM: After copying the files from the 2tb MYBOOKLIVE to the MyCloud 8tb, some of the video files only show up under music and will not play.

How do we fix this?

  1. What does does “Show under music and will not play” mean?
    Are you using the My Cloud Web App mycloud.com or the My Cloud Home Mobile App?
    If Web App, what browser?
    If Mobile, What make, model and OS version?

  2. What codec and container are the video files in question?

  3. Are the files pirated, ripped or downloaded from the internet via share or bit torrent?

I have found a “work-around” for this problem/bug.
I have been using the Windows File Explorer to “drag and drop” my files to the drive.
I create a folder on the destination drive for the new videos.
After the transfer, I rename the folder.
This fixes the problem.
Yes, you do have a bug in your software !
