Using My Passport and WD Anyware Backup software on Windows 10

I am moving from an old Windows 7 to a Windows 10 system, and want to transfer my Documents using the My Passport drive.

When installing the Backup software version 4.506554 onto Windows 10 an error message says that this software does not work on this operating system, WD SmartWare software executes under W10 but only gives me the option to backup again into Dropbox.

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue, can I use my Passport hardware with W10?
Thanks,
Rose Edwards

WD Anywhere Backup will not run on Windows 10 and you cannot use Smartware to recover the backup that you created from WDAB. The easiest way to get the data off the Passport is to manually navigate into the WDAB backup folder and manually copy and paste the data onto the new computer. Another option, if you still have the Win 7 PC is to install Smartware on that PC and run a fresh backup and then move the Passport over to the Win 10 PC and recover the data back.
