Use G-Drive w/ Thunderbolt 3 on 2014 iMac with Thunderbolt 2

Hello. I purchased a G-Drive with TB3 not recalling that my iMac had TB2 ports and not TB3. I am using it with the TB to USB cable at the moment but to use the TB3 connector, can I use one of the TB2 to TB3 adapters plus a TB2 to TB2 cable to go from the adapter to the iMac. If so, does anyone have specific experience with particular products to do this.

Apple has the following adapter: Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter that states it works either TB3 to TB2 or vice-versa. My thought was I would connect “male” end of the adapter to the G-Drive and then use a TB2 to TB2 connector to connect to the iMac and the adapter.

Asked another way, can a TB3 device like the drive connect to a TB2 port?

Thanks. Tom

Yes, that adapter is what is needed for it to work on an older Mac.

Thanks. I placed the order with Apple. Free shipping today to boot.
