USB-Backup: external HDD not found (exFAT formatting)

Hi Guys,

Currently I try to backup the WD MyCloud EX2 via the function USB-Backup to an external HDD.
Unfurtunatly the external HDD (WD Passport Ultra) will not be found. There is no Target Folder visible. At the Macbook and at the Win10-PC the HDD has no problems. What do you think: What could be the reason? My idea was the exFAT formatting. Is this a limitation?
By the way: How do you eject the harddrive safely?
