It was WD Web services that became unavailable.
O/S 3 is still 100% functional via in-home networking to PCs
Caveat: OS3 is obsolete from a security standpoint. OS/3 devices should not be exposed to the internet. at a minimum internet access to the device needs to be blocked at the router level
What development?
We saw security updates and bug fixes.
Absolutely no feature or capability development. Even for glaring functionality flaws.
My big winners in OS/5:

FIle explorer finds the NAS units reliably. (OS/3 was very unreliable in “appearing” as network devices. It just didn’t play well with WIndows Master Browser stuff)

USB drives were not automatically indexed upon insertion.
These are minor things; but I really appreciated them.
