Simple question…is it possible? If so, how?
I’ve read several threads and seen some videos of people doing it successfully on the 1st gen, but I couldn’t find anything on the newer device.
I would really appreciate it if someone could help me…
Post title indicates My Cloud Home [2023]
. Do you have a My Cloud OR a My Cloud Home? The My Cloud Home is a completely different device with a different operating system than the My Cloud line of devices. This subforum (My Cloud) discusses the single bay/single drive OS3 My Cloud device. Methods for replacing a My Cloud drive likely WILL NOT work for replacing a My Cloud Home drive. You should move your post, or start a new one, in the proper My Cloud Home subforum if you have a My Cloud Home device. You should also search through the My Cloud Home section to see if anyone has successfully replaced their hard drive on that device.

Hi Bennor!
As the post title indicates I have a My Cloud Home device.
I’ve searched through the My Cloud Home section but couldnt find the information I wanted…thats why Im asking here
Thanks for the info tho!
Lets see if someone can help
Post to the My Cloud Home section if you haven’t already. As already stated this subforum discusses a completely different device that uses a completely different operating system. None of the files used to unbrick a single bay My Cloud will work for the My Cloud Home.
It appears, per a quick 5 second internet search, those who are able to use another hard drive in a My Cloud Home are cloning the old drive to the new one.

But if you want actual help, post to the My Cloud Home subforum where people who use the My Cloud Home typically lurk and reply.
Who said it was simple? It’s not. Generally trying to install a larger hard drive in the single bay My Cloud (and apparently My Cloud Home) requires some additional skill and knowledge. One WILL have to disassemble (shuck) the device enclosure to extract the hard drive in order to put a larger drive into the enclosure. Trying to use a larger hard drive on the single bay My Cloud is not easy either as the guy in the Youtube video indicates. It is what it is. The guy in the Youtube video cloned the drive which is what was indicated in the above post which had a link in the My Cloud Home subforum where users there discussed cloning a My Cloud Home drive to another hard drive. Plenty of software options to choose from to clone one hard drive to another. And there are dual drive docking stations that can clone one drive to another as well.
This should be a learning experience and something to remember when one goes to replace a single bay My Cloud or My Cloud Home device. If upgrading to a new NAS make sure to factor in the ability to easily replace the hard drive.
