HDD Replacement

Hi Guys, need your suggest

Condition : i use WD My Cloud Home 4 TB for ± 2 years and everything running well, Until my nephew kick my WD and it make HDD broke. all data can’t acces from pc or my android.

Question :

  1. Can i replace my WD my cloud HDD with my own ? or i must go to service center ?
  2. Can i Upgrade from 4 TB to bigger volume ?

The MCH is a light duty cloud storage device with predominately SMR hard disks which have an average life expectancy of 2.5 year with constant use.

The reply on this subject of replacing hard drive has been consistent from WDT support staff over the years, there is no option for field (home) replacement of HDD for the MCH.

Most of what you see and search on the internet about MCH HDD replacement is incomplete or wrong.

I assume that the My Cloud Home would need a different image file.
