Upgraded my long-working HD Live (not plus) to 1.03.49. Network is wired, Fixed IP to 2 XP and 1 Win7-64 machines. Before the upgrade, the WD box could see all machines. Now it sees none. Select Network Share and ZERO shares are listed. Certainly, I’ve had issues with WIn7 in the past (long since solved or so I thought), but never with XP.
Tried all the resets, clearing login, auto login on/off, etc. Streaming DLNA server works fine no matter what, but I don’t want to do it that way for several reasons. Want straight Windows neworking share/samba. No joy at all. Is there somewhere a password/login screen is supposed tto appear, because I don’t get one. My shares are set up for “anyone.”
Yes, after clearing the login info, the next time you try to access a server, it will ask you for credentials. If you’re not seeing the servers at all, it’s not going to give you the chance to log in.
I’ve the opposite problem on my live plus - lost media servers but network shares work. I did all you did- no help. Rolling back to 2 prior versions didn’t help. Same upgrade on live and not having this problem.
Same problem as described in this thread happened to me after I updated firmware to 1.04.10 on my WD TV Live. I tried to reset network and global settings, but it didn’t solve the problem. My network shares on XP and Vista worked with previous version of firmware.
I will try to downgrade firmware and will hope, that it will fix the problem.
The Issue i’m having is it logs into my shared computer but it won’t accept the user name / password anymore. I’ve created new ones and it still won’t accept them.
I’ve also ran into the problem that the WD Live box won’t play all my .mkv files, files that worked before the update no longer work.
I still have my original WD TV (the first version) and it still plays the files no problem, of course I never upgraded it since the upgrade removed the ability to use a usb hub.
To be honest after this upgrade mess I’ve lost all faith in Western Digital when it comes to their media players. I’m just going to build a Media Center from scratch. At least then I don’t have to mess with all these bugs that WD is plagued with and compatibility issues with files.
