I am trying to upgrade from usb hd but can’t find how to load fw from drive. I have hit the home button to get to the settings bar, but nothing pops up. Whne i go into system settings then update device, all it does is check the net. What am I doing wrong?
If you’re sure that the HD is being recognized by the WDTV, then most likely, the firmware you have on the HD isn’t the correct version for whichever WDTV you have.
I just copy the three files from the updated firmware package into the ROOT directory of the external hard drive. If I power off the WDTVLive and then power it up again it pops up with a “new firmware found” message and gives me the option to update.
