Transferring files from WD My Passport Formatted for Mac to Windows

I formatted my Passport for Mac, but I only have Windows now. When I plug my WD Passport to laptop with Windows, “access is denied. D:\ is not accessible”. I would like to recover my files from My Passport, and format the device for Windows and Mac (or only for Windows) and put them back on the device.
