TP-Link TL-WR1043ND V2 router problem

I used to watch movies from my computer via WIFI on my WDTVLive with my old TP-link router but today i bought a new router (TP-link TL-WR1043ND v2) but i can not get it to work with my player. It connects to the WIFI but when i do the check connection it shows me an error: no internet connection. Of course I can’t see the shared folder as well because i can not enter to network shares. I can see the WDTVLIVE on my computer’s network but that’s it…

What should i try to change?

Thanks

Mark

What happens if you manually set the network configuration in your WD TV and specify the DNS servers used by your router to access the Internet?

Since it’s a new router you might need to go back to the computer and tweak the connection type on the computer…  It varies by OS and when it comes to Windows I have had nothing but headaches over the years getting it to play nice all the time…

Basically what I suspect might have happened (as it’s Windows default) is when your computer connected to the new router the connection was setup as a ‘public’ connection instead of ‘home or work’ connection and thus Windows firewalled that computer from everything else on the network…  Check the connection type and also try disabling any firewall software on the computer, especially the Windows firewall, if the connection is set to public or it works with the firewall disabled you identified the problem(s) and can go from their  ;)
