Which tool can I use to check the speed to my Cloud?
I’m sure others will chime in with different suggestions. But I’ve used Crystal Disk Mark (https://crystalmark.info/en/software/crystaldiskmark/) on occasion to test the speed from a Windows computer to a single bay My Cloud. Note: If you do not use Gigabit connections between the computer, the router, and the My Cloud you may end up having the speed test being limited to the slowest port/connection. Also other factors can impact the speed yielding a slower result. Here are a couple of examples:
A laptop using a USB 2.0 Gigabit network adapter connected to a Gigabit router which the My Cloud is connected to:
A laptop using a USB 3.0 Gigabit network adapter connected to a Gigabit router which the My Cloud is connected to:
And a desktop PC with embedded Gigabit connected to a Gigabit router which the My Cloud is connected to:
The size of the MTU and some other things would also play a role here. I assume that the above is with windows default size for max MTU?
Enabling jumbo packets can improve raw sequential access for large files quite a bit, because fewer total datagrams need to be sent. (those headers add up.)
Yes probably still using the default MTU on those three PC’s. There are tweaks one can make, as you point out, to gain some speed improvement.
I can not select my mycloud
Try mapping a Share on the My Cloud to the local computer and use that mapped Share to test the speed (if using Crystal Disk Mark).
