The volume does not contain a recognised file system

Hello Team,
I am using WDBABV0010BBK-NESN 1 TB HD.

The following happens :

  1. The white LED on the HD keeps blinking incessantly.
  2. On the PC, I first receive the error message "D:\ is not accessible. The specified network resource or device is no longer available.
  3. I click on D Drive (which is designated for the external USB drive). The PC tried pretty hard for a few minutes and provides the following error message : “Location is not available. D:\ is not accessible. The volume does not contain a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required file systems are loaded and the volume is not corrupted.”
  4. After a few minutes (and as long as I keep the drive plugged in), the PC provides the following error message “You need to format the drive in disk D: before you can use it.”
  5. Once in a while, it opens up the File Explorer and provides the error message as “the Parameter is incorrect”.

Troubleshooting steps done till now :

  1. Plugged the HD into different ports on the same PC.
  2. Plugged the HD into different ports on a different PC.

OS - Windows 10 (all latest updates installed).

Please help!

Regards.

Hello,

I believe the partition is corrupted. You can use the drive again if you format it. This will delete the corrupted partition but will also delete the data from the drive.
