Then look through these links that have more information on how to use OS5. Much more information is available at the Support link and Knowledge Base links at the top of the page.
I’m confused. You stated you did the upgrade to OS5 in your prior post (“I did do the OS5 upgrade.”). Now you are saying your device isn’t listed and none of the links work. Those links are for the My Cloud line of devices that support OS5. What specific My Cloud device do you have? Can you access the My Cloud Dashboard or not?
The device says “My Cloud”. I guess it’s the My Cloud Home. I kept getting emails over and over about OS3 to OS5. WD called me and it took hours but I finally got it upgraded.
After that, I can ‘see’ the drive in windows explorer just like before. That’s it. I can’t use the remote access or access the drive through the dashboard.
I’m about to just go buy a non-WD device and set it up. Zero support from WD.
Option 1: Look for the part number on the device. If it ends in “-00”, it is Gen1, and well. . . no soup for you. If it ends in “-10”, it is Gen2 and you “technically” can upgrade to OS/5.
Option 2: Log into the dashboard using a web browser and the IP address of the device. What firmware version is it running? If it has a 4-xxxx firmware. . it is Gen1, and well. . . no soup for you. If it has 2-xxxx firmware it is Gen2 and you “technically” can upgrade to OS/5.
Note that even though Gen2 is technically capable of running OS/5. . .this is a fairly old device and the software is pretty hardware hungry. ((more later))
What is the P/N number on the bottom of the single bay My Cloud device?
If that P/N ends with “-00”, it is a first gen single bay My Cloud and cannot be updated to OS5.
If that P/N ends with “-10”, it is a second gen single bay My Cloud and can be updated to OS5.
What color is the front LED on the single bay My Cloud? Is it solid blue, flashing blue, red or some other color?
The second gen single bay My Cloud, once updated to OS5, may behave very sluggishly for a while as it performs the OS5 “indexing”. If your single bay My Cloud has been updated to OS5, see the links previously posted that deal with how to access the My Cloud Dashboard on OS5 and to see other OS5 related issues.
What is the specific error message in the web browser when you try to access the My Cloud Dashboard? Have you tried using the IP address of the My Cloud instead of it’s name when trying to access the Dashboard?
Thanks for all the help. Never could get to the dashboard so trashed the device and went and bought a new non-WD cloud device. Actually came w/instructions and works good.
Never buying a WD device in my life. Thanks WD for forcing me to upgrade to OS5 and killing my device.
