Switch off question

Hi, ive recently moved up to a wdtv live hub and found it great so far. I have a question regarding when the unit is in standby. If switched off with the remote control, the light goes out and its all good, except ive just realized the player is accessable on the network when in standby.

Whilst this is handy, does it mean the hard drive is going 24/7 or does it go to sleep?

Press and Hold the Power Button on the Remote for 5 Seconds and it completely Shuts Down the unit (including the Harddrive)

Pressing the Power Button on the Remote for 1 Second pust the unit into Standby (Harddrive is still active) as you’ve discovered

Thanks for that, yes 5secs on the off button does exactly that.

What does the 3hr power save option in setup do, standby mode or off?

It turns it off.

Btw internal and if you ad external HDD will go into stand by mode after some time, they are not running 24/7 :slight_smile:
