Stupid question from a noob - deleting files on PC, do they remain on MyCloud

I just need some assurance before I pull the trigger.

I’m adding a solid state hard drive to my laptop, onto which I will clone Windows 7 from the original optical hard drive.  Since the original hard drive is bigger than the SSHD, I need to delete files off my optical drive so I can clone onto the smaller drive.  

I used SmartWare and have confirmed that all my data is on the MyCloud drive.

My noob question:  If I delete files from my computer’s hard drive, does the MyCloud retain the data files so I can re-install them back onto the optical drive after I migrate the OS?   Or does Smartware just mirror whatever my computer is doing?

Smartware mirrors whatever on you disk. if you delete and then do backup, then the originals will be overwritten next time smartware is run,

So make sure your backup is up todate before deleting. stop smartware or any other backup program. Organise your machine as you wish then restore.

I had asked a similar question when I first got My Cloud about a year ago. The moderator’s response was that files deleted on my laptop after replicating to My Cloud were NOT deleted in subsequent backups.

Anyone know which is correct, or if there is a way to set one’s preference with this (for example: delete mirrored files when deleted on PC, don’t delete…)
