Hallo,
Peter
Are you using one of the WD backup tools, such as WD Sync? These can fill the disk with copies of files they are unable to sync.
“Other” is a crude file type identifier used by the Dashboard pie chart. It means the data is not recognised as media by the file scanner.
Hello cpt_paranoia,
thanks a lot for your answer. Yes, I am using WD Sync.
I have also the problem, that WD Sync created a folder for temporary files on my laptop, which is filled by temporary files.
After few weeks the hard drive is completely occupied so that I can not save data anymore. If I delete the folder, a new folder is created at once and it starts to be filled again with files.
Do you have a short-term and maybe also a long-term solution for this problem?
Best regards,
Peter
Find our which files WD Sync is unable to sync, and why, and fix those problems.
Or drop WD Sync and look elsewhere for a backup or sync solution. You do not have to use WD apps. There have been many suggestions on the forum. I use FreeFileSync, which does backup and sync.
Hello cpt_paranoia,
thanks a lot for your help. I have switched to FreeFileSync, too, and it works perfectly. No filled cloud anymore, no filled hard drive anymore…
Best regards,
Peter
