Speed of data transfer USB3 -> WD My Cloud EX2

Hi,

2 days ago, I’ve purchased WD My Cloud EX2 4GB (2+2GB, RAID 1). I wanted to archive data from my old disk (WD Caviar Green). I’ve attached it to a USB-SATA reduction and connected it to WD My Cloud EX2.

I started to copy the data via Backup USB-NAS function. The data are big files (smalles around 500 MB, largest around 5GB).

After 9 hours of copying, it transfered 729.97 GB of data, which is 23MB/s (729.97*1024/9/60/60). How is that possible?

The USB 3  has a teoretical speed of 625 MB/s and SATA I 150MB/s. So I assume that the copying should be as fast as 150 MB/s. Why is it so slow? Any idea?

Thanks for any reply.

Hello,

Have you tried with another USB drive?

Sorry,

but it’s normal for EX2.  :frowning:

USB3 port on it it’s a joke and nothing was done by WD on firmware to fix this ridicolous speed on it.

The USB3>EX2 slow backup it’s one of the most reported issue on this forum.

Thanks for replies.
No I don’t have any other USB3 devices, somI can’t test it, however, this one works good with other compiters.

I’m pretty new to this WD My Cloud EX2 device, so I didn’t know that it’s that bad :-/ however, I won’t use it many times. It was probably the first and last time I was using USB3 on it:)
