I have a My Passport set to category backup and the frequency set to continuous. I don’t leave it plugged in all the time and haven’t backed up in a few weeks. When I plug in My Passport and open SmartWare, it immediately says “Backup accomplished successfully” in the top left of the Backup tab even though it has not backed up any files that were added to my PC since the last backup.
I tried setting the frequency to daily and it says that it ran the backup, but it’s still in the same state without the new files. I don’t see an option for refreshing the “Data for backup” or a way to make it actually back things up. The user manual says “whenever you disconnect and reconnect the drive to your computer, the WD SmartWare software rescans your computer for new or changed files and resumes automatic, continuous backup as before.” This does not seem to be happening for me and I wanted to see if anyone could explain why or let me know what I need to do to fix it.
I am having the same issue. The last file backed up under the continuous backup was back on 8/30. I plug in my drive today and it only backed up document I have added since then. I am missing all updates from 8/30/2013 to today. I have the last software 2.2.0.8 and still no change.
Windows 7 OS running WD My Passport
I reinstalled 2.1 and was able to backup my whole system. I am going to update to 2.2.0.8 when I am done and see if that fixed the problem.

I uninstalled 2.2 then reinstalled I did another full backup and will keep you posted if the backup keeps current. It appears as if if only scan back so many days, so if you don’t backup say once a week any thing from you last backup to the current is not backup. Is there a way to force a full backup without uninstalling the software and reinstalling it? I will try and keep you updated.
