Slow Transfer Speeds on WD My Cloud – Looking for Solutions

Hi WD Community,

This is my first post here, and I’m hoping to get some advice regarding an issue I’ve encountered with my WD My Cloud. I’ve been experiencing slow transfer speeds when trying to back up large files (between 5-10 GB) from my Windows 10 PC to the My Cloud device. The average transfer speed fluctuates between 10-15 MB/s, which seems quite slow for a gigabit network connection.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Ensured both the PC and My Cloud are connected via Ethernet to the router
  • Checked for firmware updates on the WD My Cloud
  • Restarted both the router and the My Cloud device

Despite these steps, the issue persists. Are there any specific settings or configurations I might be overlooking to improve transfer speeds? Would setting up a static IP or adjusting the network configuration help in this case?

Any tips or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your support!

What WDMYCLOUD device do you own? Is it OS3 or OS5? Are you transferring by Wi-Fi? If you look in the Community find the sub-forum for your device and place your topic there.

I own a 1st generation WDMYCLOUD OS3 used on my home network only and a 2nd generation WDMYCLOUD OS5. The 1st generation has slower speeds than my 2nd generation.
