Should I install Plex for a photo birding trip?

Hi, I’m not a techie teenager, so please be patient

I just purchased the WD Passport Wireless Pro for a birding trip in Costa Rica in november. Hopefully, I will be familiar with backing up and viewing my photos on my trip by then!

I already messed up and forgot my password. I read how to restore to original settings, so I will do that soon.

I am not familiar with Plex, so after reading a bit, I think I understand that it will play videos, photos and files, stored in my computer back home? If this is true, then I don’t think I really need it for my trip. I want to be able to backup and view the photos on my iPhone during the trip. I will be using both SD and Compact Flash cards. I understand I would need my card reader for the compact flash.

Can I do this without Plex? Is there any reason I should install it?

Thank you very much!

Gloria

This is a bit old but no, you do not. I wouldn’t even suggest using Plex for photo viewing as most smart tv’s have much better apps for photo viewing.
