I am trying to share a WD ext HD with another user on my pc. I have set it to share with “everyone”, and the individual. Neither option seems to work. The other user can view all files but cannot write to the drive. This was possible before but for some reason ii is not allowing it now. I would love some suggestions.
I have a HP with Win7 Ultimate the ext is a 2 tb with USB 2
I can connect to it and add and delete files but my wife can’t. We use it to back up a lot of information.
Thank you for your reply Joe. Yes I checked all the boxes. I don’t understand as she is an administrator on the PC anyway. I have it as shared and it shows up as shared on my sign in. I just didn’t know if maybe there was one of those $500 microsoft check boxes. LOL. I guess Im asking if there is any other steps that maybe aren’t the normal or usual steps. It may even have something to do with the “homegroup” thing. I have had a lot of problem with that in the past.
The really odd part is that just the other day she saved a file to it and it saved just fine. If there is any thing else I need to post to help me with this please let me know.
