Unfortunately, I was never able to mount the disk reliably from outside the network and support was not much help. I returned the drive to Amazon.

Have you tried setting up a port forwarding rule to allow access?  

Create a new rule to forward external port 8080 to internal port 80.  This rule will also allow remote administration of the device.
