Safepoints missing

I am rotating three drives for Safepoint backup. When I return a drive to the MyCloud it says there are no safepoints available (which also makes restore impossible). However, if I browse them on a PC the safepoints are there. When I try and create a new one with the same name, it says it cannot create a duplicate.

I found a post here indicating to eject the drive and change the created SAFEPOINT _X share name, but the unmount removes the share.

Basically, the safepoint functionaity is useless. What am I doing wrong?

Does each of the three drives have a distinct unique drive name?
Does each of the Safepoints have a distinct unique name?
Are you using the eject option (in the Dashboard USB icon) in the My Cloud Dashboard to eject the USB drive?

Yes, Yes, and Yes. Although since they were ejected while idle, the latter should not matter.

The drives are being recognized by My Cloud and added as a share. The _WDPROT tree exists, and the files are there. The safepoint_name folder exists, and the ####.info file appears as below. I can access the files via a mycloud share. The only issue is that MyCloud will not recognize a safepoint set once ejected.

That said, last night I found a very old backup on a MyPassport Ultra portable and it recognized it just fine. The other three drives are bare 3.5 drives I’m mounting in a USB-SATA dock.
