Safepoint/backup question

This may seem an extrememly obvious question.

When creating a Safepoint on another drive, I assume that a drive with the same capacity as they one you are backing up is required?

Secondly,

Is there any way of creating safepoints onto a remote drive. Say, I install a suitable drive at a friend or relatives house?

It only needs to be large enough to hold the CONTENTS of the drive, not the whole drive.

So if you’ve got 200 GB stored on the drive, then a 300GB drive would be fine to safepoint to.

I know of no way that a typical user could do a remote safepoint.   There are ways, but you’d likely need to have a VPN set up between the boxes.
