Safepoint Size

I just bought a 3TB My Book Live.

  1. In order to create a safepoint of the entire drive (assuming I will eventually use the entire drive), do I need a drive of equal size, or is the safepoint smaller than the drive itself? Which brings me to question 2.

  2. If I need a drive of equal size to create a safepoint, can I run two drives in RAID, instead of using a safepoint?

The backup drive must have the same size of the files that you want to backup. If you only have 200GB of data inside the MBL you only need a hard drive of that size or larger to make the backup.
