Retrieve data from time machine backup on mycloud

I’ve been using ( I thought) time machine to backup up to wd mycloud for several years. It looked like it was working fine, but I had no reason to check! On Friday I dropped my MacBook Pro and it’s not looking repairable. I was confident I’d be able to retrieve everything from storage. It’s tuesday and now I’ll with stress. I’ve spent 5 days trying to set up mycloud on my only other devise (iPad). I can now see I’ve about 360gb of something on time machine but nothing I can see, no photos … nothing! Help please!

Time Machine like other backup software typically creates a compressed set of files containing the backup data. One typically would need to use Time Machine on another Mac to open the Time Machine backup set on the My Cloud.

If you are trying to use a mobile device to open the Time Machine backup set then you would need to use an app (if one exists) that can access and open Time Machine files. Check the Apple Store if you haven’t already to see if such an app exists for the Ipad.

If one has access to a Windows PC it may be possible to restore files from Time Machine.

Thank you!
