Read Time Machine Backups on Windows PC

Hi

I’m currently using a WD My Cloud to backup my MacBook thru Time Machine. Everything works fine with the backup.

Now, whenever I access my folder on MyCloud I can’t find my files. What I can find are files of 8 MB that can’t be read on a windows PC.

What can I do to read my files on my windows PC?

Thanks

I suspect that you need to connect to your MC with an authenticated id vs anonymous. I connect from a Linux machine using smb and can view the entire contents of the TimeMachine folder housing my wife’s Mac Book Pro backups. I’m pretty certain that I also tested this on Windows.

That’s the way the Time Machine works. It saves all files (and their history of versions and changes) in blocks of 8 MB. You will not be able to read or restore the Time Machine backup on a PC.
