I have a My Cloud EX2 with 2 x 3 TB (total 6 TB) drives. I have it configured ad RAID 0.
As I need more space I purchased 2 psc. Red Pro 6 TB (total 12 TB) drives. (WD6002FFWX).
I understand that there is a way to swap the 2 pcs. 3 TB for 2 pcs. 6 TB whereby the data on the original 2 pcs. 3 TB are transferred to the new 2 pcs. 6 TB Red Pro drives.
Can you advise the procedure to transfer the data from the existing drives tot the new Red Pro 6 TB drives.
Thanks in advance.
I do not see an easy way around this without another external hard drive large enough to hold what you currently have in your WD My Cloud EX2. Since you are using a RAID 0 configuration, there is no way to migrate your files because even if you managed to copy your current RAID to the new drives, the hard drives will have to be erased in order to be used by your NAS.
Would this be possible if the OP were using a RAID 1 configuration? I’m going to be running into a similar situation eventually where I need to increase the drive size on my EX2 Ultra, but I’ve got 2x2 TB disks right now in RAID 1 config. I’m hoping that will make it easier/possible since theoretically the NAS would just mirror the data to the new larger drive and then you swap out the final small drive with another larger new one, which is then mirrored to from the first new drive.
