Replacing Disks in a DL4100

Can I increase my DL4100 Capacity by replacing one drive at a time followed by a rebuild and then replacing another drive with another rebuild and so on?  Or do the rebuild sessions place too much stress on the 3 older drives?  I’m thinking about the possibility of going from 16TB to 24TB by replacing the 4TB drives with 6TB drives, one at a time.

This would affect my purchase of replacement drives.  Right now I keep a spare drive ready for a drive failure.  Maybe I should keep a 6TB replacement instead of a 4TB replacement.  BTW, I think I understand that the system effectively remains a 16TB system until all 4TB drives have been replaced by 6TB drives.

No.  You can use the same size or larger to replace a failed disc.  But it would just use the same space as before.

Your data should be backed up somewhere, so you could just replace all 4 drives at once and create the array, and then restore from your backup
