Replace drive about to crash in wd ex4

current setup - 2x 4tb WD Green drives in MySpace EX4 - no raid

I think drive 1 is failing

How do i replace drive 1 with a replacement drive (same green 4tb)??? without losing any data and backup might not be possible

Because your My Cloud EX4 is running with no RAID, each drive is completely independent. If Drive 1 is failing and it contains data, there is unfortunately no way to replace it without losing that data unless you copy it somewhere else first. The EX4 cannot rebuild or protect data in a non-RAID setup. Your safest option is to immediately copy whatever data you can from Drive 1 to another internal drive or an external USB drive, starting with the most important files and avoiding reboots or heavy activity while the drive is unstable. Once the data is secured, shut the NAS down, replace Drive 1 with the new 4TB drive, initialize it, and then copy the data back. If Drive 1 is empty or unused, it can be replaced directly. In short, with no RAID and no backup, you must save the data off the failing drive first or it will be lost.
