We have had a WD My Cloud Personal Cloud Storage 4 TB for some months and never managed to sort the remote access out.
Firslt we all access through the file explorer and go to networks and access it via that. We find using the software on laptops doesnt work, it allways asks for javascript to be updated and it already is. Even if you follow the links and go back it still says the same.
When we try to access remotly we cant get onto it. I am not sure what the correct method is and have tried to do loads of digging.
Could anyone help on how to access this remotly and if we can do it using the file explorer like we do on the local network?
You can access the WD My Cloud remotely with the WD My Cloud Desktop software for Windows. You can also access the My Cloud remotely via iOS devices and Android devices via the WD My Cloud and WD Photo apps for both devices.
If you are trying to access the WD My Cloud through the WD2Go.com site so you can use Windows Explorer then you MUST ensure you have the latest version of Java installed and that Java is configured to run within the web browser properly.
As we’ve seen in another recent thread, if you are using the Enterprise version of Java it may need to be configured to unblock access to certain sites including WD2Go.com via the Java Deployment Rule Set. If you are using the Enterprise version of Java then you will need to configure or reconfigure the Deployment Rule Set to allow Java scripts from WD2Go.com to run.
If you have not already done so read the WD My Cloud User Manual, in particular Chapter 9 Accessing Your Cloud Remotely and specificity the Accessing Your Personal Cloud on the Web subsection for WD2Go.com usage.
