Remote access trouble for 3TB MyCloud

Hi… I am completely new to cloud storage so forgive me if my questions seem a little stupid!!

I have a MyCloud drive and i can access the dashboard and create users etc. I have put the cloud app on my samsung phone and when i am connected to my home network i can access all my files on the drive without any problems. When i am not on my home network and attempt to access files it says user does not have permission?? what am i doing wrong to access my files away from home?

Thanks for any help

Dave

I am in the same situation but with an iphone, all ok within my network but try to connect via 3/4G it times out saying device is offline. Is there something simple im missing ?

Ensure you have enabled remote access through the My Cloud Dashboard for both the My Cloud and the Shares. Ensure the My Cloud Dashboard indicates a remote access connection under status.

Try using MyCloud.com to test remote access. For mobile device remote access one may have to create a MyCloud.com account through the My Cloud Dashboard then use that MyCloud.com login information (user name and password) when configuring the My Cloud mobile app to access the My Cloud.

It sometimes helps to configure the My Cloud with a static IP address and to manually specify the remote access ports within the My Cloud Dashboard, and to then configure the network router to port forward those manually specified ports to the My Cloud.

When in doubt see the My Cloud User Manual (http://support.wdc.com/product.aspx?ID=904) for more information on how to setup remote access. Also see the My Cloud learning center links for more information on remote access.

Just logged in to say i have managed to resolve my issue. As above i gave the unit a static ip address and set up port forwarding on my router and hey presto it all works.
