Recover a Gen2 My Cloud HDD from brick

Hello to everyone. First of all, I wanted to tell you I’ve done research for me to get this done.

I was trying to install CleanOS since I believe our device can do so much more than is capable of its original OS, but when I tried it bricked.

After several attempts, I got to follow fox’s recovery process but ended up with the device stocked at 0% when uploading the firmware.

Fox recommended to do a:

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=1M count=10000

It did apparently nothing, but still I believe have two options:

  • “Push” the firmware to the HDD once formatted.
  • Restore my HDD with an HDD image, but there where none to be found for the kind of device I have (found only Gen1’s)

Please, if you have any ideas or solution to this, that would be very much appreciated.

Greetings from Mexico.
