Our hard drive was failing and we used Smartware to backup all personal files to Mybook. When we put in the new hard drive and reinstalled the Smartware program, it doesn’t see that there are any backed up files. Using File Explorer we see individual files he placed there in the past and we see the WD Smartware,swstor so we know it’s there. How do we get the files back from Mybook if the new install of smartware doesn’t see them?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Smartware software?
We only installed it after getting the new hard drive in, but didn’t try again from scratch. My husband has already spent the better part of today physically moving them himself (evaluating as he goes). We decided there must be no way to retrieve the usual way with Smartware since we had to install it new. We will try reinstalling.
I reinstalled it and it’s working now. I’m not sure if we were just looking at it wrong or the download was messed up before. This is the first time we’ve ever had to use this process in the 5 years we’ve had Mybook. Thanks for the suggestion. We’ve had quite the time going round and round with a damaged new hard drive, issues getting MS Office back, and on and on.
