Hi, I recently purchased a WD My Cloud 2 TB. I’ve put myself on as a user and updated the firmware, but that’s it. I can see that the machine is sleeping, as the blue led is pulsing on/off, but I can also see that the green led indicating network activity is blinking every few seconds. I can also see the router led for the ethernet connection blink. So, it seems like there’s something accessing the network but not the drive. Is this normal? Any ideas? I’m more concerned about the hard drive being constantly accessed, but if it’s truly sleeping I’m not so worried.
Yes, it’s normal to have network access indications even if the drive is sleeping.
Network protocols are still running; it could also be simple “broadcast” traffic from other devices on your network.
