PR2100 Fan Not Working

I have the error message Fan Not Working. After much research, I found instructions on now to replace the fan. The recommended replacement is a Sunon PVM 4 wire fan. I can’t find that specific fan. The MGT7012YR-W25 HF cooling fan may be a suitable replacement (3900 max rotation) or PVA070G12Q (5700 max rotation).

Amazon has several possibilities. Can someone recommend a specific replacement fan?

Before spending any money, measure the voltages at the fan connector.

How would I do this? The NAS would be taken apart to access the fan connection. Would it be safe to plug it in like that? Which lead provides 12 volts? Where should I ground the negative test lead?
I’m just not sure how to test this.

I replaced the fan once but in going back over my purchase it was a 3-wire, not 4-wire fan even though it had a four lead connector. Hopefully the replacement 4-wire fan will solve the problem.

A 3-wire fan has +12V, Ground and Tacho pins. It should run at full speed, unless the +12V supply is modulated.

A 4-wire fan has an additional PWM input for speed control.

You need to measure the voltages at the connector.
