Hi.
Is there any plans to upgrade to Plex Server v1.24 or higher anytime soon? This version is now the minimum to take advantage of the plex pass features, such as Sonic Analysis…
Thanks, Jason

You can download
1.40.5.8921 from Plex website
Great thank you, but how do I install it into my MyCloudHome?
Not everyone or every bot that answers knows about the My Cloud Home (MCH). Bots give very generalized answers that sometimes obfuscate the solution.
Log in locally to MCH, go to Do More, Plex. If you don’t see it, you have not selected a local MCH.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my post, and I apologize for my poor explanation; English isn’t my first language. I don’t have an issue with logging into my My Cloud Home (MCH) or enabling/configuring the Plex Server, but I wanted to know if it’s possible to update it to the latest version of the Plex Server, as it has features like Sonic Analysis that’s included with the Plex Pass subscription.
Am I correct in assuming that I have to wait for Western Digital (WD) to release an update for this?
I agree that running Plex on the MCH is poorly executed, and I’m now regretting the purchase and migration from my old Mac Mini that I was using as my home media server. It’s been quite a miserable experience getting things configured and setting up the port forwarding, especially since most ISPs here in the UK block ports like 443 and 8443.

The latest version of Plex Server is: 1.41.0.8992 but the version on MCH is: Version 1.40.4.8679
You are trying to do too much with the PMS on MCH.
In the 7 years since the introduction of MCH, no one has been able to update to the latest PMS version upon release because Plex.tv chose not to supply a latest OS4 build and WD did not allow its distribution with the OS4 platform, and that will not change with the MCH fast approaching it’s End of Life (EOL).
The MCH is the least capable platform one should be thinking about running the latest version of anything.
A little researched showed that Sonic Analysis has never been supported by Plex on ARM processors other than Apple high end ARM with Rosetta emulation. So it doesn’t matter what version of PMS you install on the MCH.
Plex Sonic not supported on most ARM processors.
Ah that’s good to know and i think my MCH will be heading to eBay soon, as i only really purchased it for its Plex support, but now i conceded it was really an afterthought by WD to help sell the units…a very odd way to market a product and damage your brand. I think back to my 12 year old MacMini this weekend, as its less hassle!
Thanks for all your help NoPlex
